Optimal Modelling for Decision Making of Electricity Retailer in Power Market Contracts by Considering Demand Side Management Programs
Authors
Abstract:
The growth and expansion of economic concepts in the power system is increasing in last years. Energy economists have considered the optimal decision-making of electricity market retailers in recent years. In this paper, a demand response program based model is pro-posed in order to make the optimal decision of the retailer in the electricity market, taking into account the different conditions that the retailer may face. The optimal model presented by mod-eling the behavior of retailers and consumers, while maximizing the profit of retailers, also leads to the optimal purchase of retailers from conventional contracts in the electricity market. The formulation of the proposed model is based on the presence of the retailer in the bilateral con-tracts as well as the pool market contracts in such a way that the optimization problem is solved in the form of nonlinear programming with SNOPT solver in GAMS software. The results indicate the effectiveness of the proposed model based on the fact that while increasing the retailer profit, the retailer purchase is also managed in the bilateral contract and the pool market.

Stochastic Multiperiod Decision Making Framework of an Electricity Retailer Considering Aggregated Optimal Charging and Discharging of Electric Vehicles
This paper proposes a novel decision making framework for an electricity retailer to procure its electric demand in a bilateral-pool market in presence of charging and discharging of electric vehicles (EVs). The operational framework is a two-stage programming model in which at the first stage, the retailer and EV aggregator do their medium-term planning. Determination of retailer's optimum sel...
full textDetermining Appropriate Buses and Networks for Applying Demand Side Management Programs by Structural Analysis of EENS
The main goal of this paper is to structurally analyze impact of DSM programs on reliability indices. A new approach is presented to structurally decompose reliability index Expected Energy Not Supplied (EENS) by using Monte Carlo simulation. EENS is decomposed into two terms. The first term indicates EENS which is caused by generation contingencies. The second term indicates EENS which is caus...

full textIntegrating real and financial options in demand-side electricity contracts
In a competitive electricity market traditional demand side management options offering customers curtailable service at reduced rates are replaced by voluntary customer responses to electricity spot prices. In this new environment, customers wishing to ensure a fixed electricity price while taking advantage of their flexibility to curtail loads can do so by purchasing a forward electricity con...
full textAnalyzing Capacity Withholding in Oligopoly Electricity Markets Considering Forward Contracts and Demand Elasticity
In this paper capacity withholding in an oligopolistic electricity market that all Generation Companies (GenCos) bid in a Cournot model is analyzed and the capacity withheld index, the capacity distortion index and the price distortion index are obtained and formulated. Then a new index, Distortion-Withheld Index (DWI), is proposed in order to measure the potential ability of market for capacit...
full textOptimal Operation of Microgrids Under Demand Side Management
One of the major problem in the optimal operation of the power system is optimal operation of microgrid with regard to the Demand-side-management. From one side, demand-side-management programs reduce the operating costs of the power system and on the other hand, the implementation of these programs requires a financial incentive policies. In this paper, optimal operation of microgrid with dem...
